Gillian Lyttle
Gillian Lyttle, BPE, BHSc(PT), RCAMT, CPed(C)
Registered Physiotherapist & Certified Pedorthist (Cambridge)

Gillian graduated from McMaster University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Physiotherapy.  Her interest in orthopaedics lead her to become a certified manual and manipulative therapist (Part A) in 2000.  Gillian has been working as a registered physiotherapist in sports medicine for the past 15 years.  Her interest in treating lower extremity dysfunctions and biomechanical and pathological conditions of the foot and ankle lead her to become a Certified Pedorthist CPed(C) in 2004.

Gillian's educational background has provided her with a unique perspective when assessing and treating lower extremity dysfunction.  She has a passion for gait analysis (walking and running) which she incorporates into her assessments; using video analysis when required.  Gillian has also presented at several conferences on the biomechanical and functional relationship between the pelvis, hip and foot due to her extensive clinical background.



Michelle Bogias Michelle Bogias, BPE, BHSc(PT)
Registered Physiotherapist, Certified Pilates Instructor (Kitchener)

Michelle has developed her interest in sports physiotherapy through her work as a registered physiotherapist in KW and Cambridge since 1996. She has a particular interest in the rehabilitation of the older athlete.

Michelle received a Bachelor of Physical Education and Bachelor of Health Sciences (Physiotherapy) from McMaster University. Since 1996 she has gained extensive postgraduate training in orthopaedics and she also practices acupuncture.

Michelle is certified in Pilates and teaches pilates at GRSM. She has a strong interest in sports medicine and, specifically, in the sports injuries of the older adult. Michelle lives in Cambridge and in her free time, she enjoys playing squash and softball, both competitively and recreationally.



Gena Van RooyenGena Van Rooyen BSc(KIN), MSc(PT), Dip. Manip. PT, FCAMPT
Registered Physiotherapist (Cambridge)

Gena has been working at Grand River Sports Medicine since 2002. She is a graduate of the Master of Science (Physiotherapy) program at McMaster University (2002). She obtained an Honours Bachelor of Science (Kinesiology) from Laurentian University in 1997.

Gena is committed to continuing education in the areas of manual therapy and therapeutic exercise. She received her Diploma of Advanced Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy from the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (Orthopaedic Division) in 2009.

Gena has long been involved in athletics, and currently enjoys running, hiking, walking her dog, and canoeing. She believes in the importance of health promotion as it relates to injury and disease prevention.

Gena's main areas of interest are the pelvis, hip, lumbar spine, shoulder and cervical spine. She enjoys working with injured athletes at all levels of ability. She is a strong proponent of core stabilization as it relates to exercise and performance.



Bettina HolmanTina Holman, BHSc(PT)
Registered Physiotherapist (Cambridge)

Tina graduated from McMaster University in 2000, and has since done postgraduate coursework covering such topics as biomechanics, muscle imbalances, manual therapy, clinical problem solving, exercise and therapeutic taping. She has begun the examination process for her intermediate diploma in manual therapy from the Orthopedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.

Tina enjoys treating active individuals who care about their health and well-being, and are interested in learning how their bodies function. . Tina enjoys hiking, reading, working out at the gym and cooking. She particularly enjoys treating problems of the hip and pelvis, low back and shoulder.




Debbie ChinDebbie Chin, BA(Kin), BHScPT
Registered Physiotherapist (Cambridge & Kitchener)

Debbie is a registered physiotherapist who has been working in the area of sports medicine and orthopedics since 1998 when she graduated from the University of Western Ontario (with a degree in Physical Therapy). She also has a four year honors degree in Kinesiology with a focus on athletic injuries. Debbie has been a member of the GRSM therapy team since April 2003. Prior to joining GRSM, she was a member of the multidisciplinary team at the David L MacIntosh Sport Medicine Clinic at the University of Toronto. Debbie has done extensive postgraduate courses in manual therapy, McKenzie and Sahrmann muscle imbalances, completing her long/prep course in Part A manual therapy in 2003. Debbie is also a STOTT-certified Pilates instructor.  She obtained her certification in June 2005 from the STOTT Pilates International Certification Center in Toronto, Ontario. Debbie teaches Pilates classes in Kitchener, including some occasional teaching in Cambridge.

Debbie is very active athletically and is involved in running, fitness, weight training, downhill skiing and snowboarding, as well as, golfing, waterskiing and wakeboarding.



Dana Snelling Dana Snelling HB(Kin), MSc(PT)
Registered Physiotherapist (Cambridge)

Dana graduated from the McMaster Physiotherapy program with a Master of Science in Physiotherapy in 2005. Prior to that she completed an Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology and Anthropology degree (2003), also at McMaster. Dana has stayed involved with McMaster as a clinical tutor for the physiotherapy program and as a clinical preceptor for physio students.

Dana started with GRSM in February of 2008 after working in a multidisciplinary clinic and at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton. In addition to being a Physiotherapist, Dana has been teaching Pilates since 2006 and manages the GRSM Pilates program in Cambridge.

Dana has pursued further education in physiotherapy in the areas of manual therapy, Pilates and exercise therapy.  She is currently working towards her certification in Manual therapy.  Dana is interested in treating post-surgical clients, adolescents and post-partum women; as well, athletes looking to enhance their performance through Pilates-based core training.  Dana continues to be active herself through mountain biking, running and weight-training.



Julie DevennyJulie Devenny, BSc(Kin), MPT
Registered Physiotherapist (Kitchener)

Julie graduated from the Masters of Physical Therapy Program at University Of Western Ontario in 2007. Prior to that she completed an Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo in 2005. Julie is committed to continuing her education in the areas of manual therapy and therapeutic exercise.

Julie is a Kitchener-Waterloo native and has returned to the area after finishing her education. Julie has been heavily involved in athletics her whole life. While at University of Waterloo, Julie played varsity basketball for 4 years. She was co-captain and named CIS Rookie of the year in her first year. Julie continues to stay active playing basketball and swimming.

In conjunction with Kristy, Julie is currently developing a cancer Rehab Program at GRSM focusing on lymphedema and functional rehabilitation.


 

Kristy CommerfordKristy Commerford, BSc, MPT
Registered Physiotherapist (Kitchener)

Kristy graduated from the School of Physical Therapy at the University of Western Ontario in 2008. Prior to completing the Master of Physical Therapy Program, Kristy completed an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science at the University of Waterloo.

Since graduating from UWO, Kristy has worked with a wide range of athletes and active individuals alike including the UWO Women's Field Hockey Team, Banting Secondary School Seniors Boys Hockey team (London), and London Runner Distance Club. Prior to joining GRSM, Kristy completed the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic's Sport Physiotherapy Fellowship. Kristy has pursued further physiotherapy education in the areas of manual therapy, acupuncture, McKenzie techniques, and sport physiotherapy.

In conjunction with Julie, Kristy is currently developing a cancer Rehab Program at GRSM focusing on lymphedema and functional rehabilitation. 


 

Stephanie WongStephanie Wong, BHSc, MPT
Registered Physiotherapist (Kitchener)

Stephanie graduated the University of Western Ontario, Master of Physical Therapy in 2009. Prior to this, she completed a 4 year Honors Specialization in Health Science with Biology also, from the Universtiy of Western Ontario in 2007. Since completing her Masters, Stephanie continues to further her post graduate education pursuits with a strong interest in manual therapy, sports physiotherapy and acupuncture.

Stephanie is a Kitchener native who has always had a passion for sports and physical activity.  She has participated in many competitive sports throughout her life and continues to promote the importance of health and physical fitness.  In her spare time, Stephanie is an avid Ultimate (Frisbee) player and has competed in the sport at the regional, provincial and national level.


Tara DempsterTara Dempster, BA (Hon) Kin., MPT                                                 Registered Physiotherapist (Cambridge)

Tara graduated from the University of Western Ontario, Master of Physical Therapy program in 2009. Prior to this, she completed an Honours Specialization in Kinesiology with a Minor in Sociology at the University of Western Ontario in 2007.

Since graduating, Tara has had various opportunities to work with athletes, including: BMO Canadian Figure Skating Championships, London Women's Rugby, St. George's High School Rugby Tournament, and at the 2010 Special Olympics held in London, Ontario. Tara continues to further her education in the areas of manual therapy, acupuncture, and sports medicine.

Tara loves an active lifestyle and keeps busy playing soccer, volleyball, tennis, golf, and hopes to one day run a ½ marathon. She also has a keen interest in coaching, working with the George Bray Hockey Program since 2008.
